According to a TVLine article fans, audiences, and former colleagues are mourning the sudden loss of Michelle Trachtenberg who is best known for her roles in Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Gossip Girl. The actress was found dead on Wednesday in a New York City apartment near Columbus Circle at the age of 39. According to TVLine ABC News announced that authorities do not consider her death suspicious. Trachtenberg had recently undergone a liver transplant and complications from the procedure may have played a role in her sudden passing.

TVLine mentioned that a representative from 20th Television which is the studio behind Buffy The Vampire Slayer, expressed their condolences in a statement which says “Michelle left an indelible mark on television, captivating audiences with her portrayal of the strong-willed Dawn Summers. Her performances were filled with heart, depth, and authenticity, and she will be fondly remembered. Our thoughts are with her family and loved ones during this difficult time.”

Per TVLine Trachtenberg first made her mark on the screen on the hit TV series Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1997 in its fifth season suddenly appearing as Dawn Summers who was Buffy’s younger sister. The article gos on to say that the show’s storyline later revealed that Dawn was “the key,” a mystical entity placed into Buffy’s life by monks. Trachtenberg remained a core cast member throughout the show’s final three seasons.

After the series ended Trachtenberg continued her career with roles in fan favorite series such as Six Feet Under, Gossip Girl, Weeds, and Mercy. She played her role as Georgina Sparks in HBO Max’s Gossip Girl reboot and made several guest appearances on various television shows says TVLine.

Her contributions to television will be remembered for decades and her presence will be deeply missed by fans and audiences all over the world.
