Sarah Michelle Gellar (I Know What You Did Last Summer, Cruel Intentions) is reportedly preparing for a new wave of supernatural creatures to slay. Gellar, who starred in the original Buffy the Vampire Slayer series from 1997 to 2003, recently shared an Instagram video of herself (below) training at the gym with new co-star, Ryan Kiera Armstrong (Anne with an E, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew), in the Buffy reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

“Warrior 1 and 2 We don’t sweat … we sparkle,” Gellar captioned the video, which shows the both of them working out in the gym while laughing together. Armstrong was recently announced to star in the reboot series as a new Slayer, according to an article on mxdwn. On the other hand, Gellar will reprise her role as Buffy Summers, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Hollywood Reporter writes that Gellar once praised her new co-star, saying “From the moment I saw Ryan’s audition, I knew there was only one girl that I wanted by my side. To have that kind of emotional intelligence, and talent, at such a young age is truly gift. The bonus is that her smile lights up even the darkest room.”
The plot for the reboot is still unknown, although Gellar’s fun dynamic with Armstrong makes the praise unsurprising. In June, Gellar shared her hopes for some actors from the original show to return for the Buffy reboot, according to an interview via Vanity Fair and accessed via mxdwn. “It will be lighter than the last few seasons of the original,” Gellar said at the time. “We will try to find a balance between new and old characters. My dream is to bring back everyone who has died, but space will have to be made for new stories as well.”
The show currently does not have a premiere date, although it will be on Hulu, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
