According to Deadline, Bryan Fuller (American Gods, Dead Like Me), creator of Pushing Daisies, says a third season is in the works. While promoting his latest film, Dust Bunny, Fuller was asked about the possibility of the comedy-drama returning to TV screens, where he explained that there will be another instalment.
“Absolutely,” Fuller told ComicBook recently about wanting to revisit Pushing Daisies via Deadline. “We have a season three pitch, and the entire cast wants to come back, and we’re hoping we get to return to them. We just have to find somebody who wants to make it.”
As per Deadline, Pushing Daisies is mystery-fantasy series produced by Warner Bros. Television and aired on ABC in October 2007 and ran for two seasons. The series starred Lee Pace (The Running Man, Guardians of the Galaxy) as Ned, a pie-maker with the power to bring the dead back to life. The last episode aired on June 13, 2009. Joining Pace on the series include Anna Friel (Land of the Lost, The Girlfriend Experience) as Chuck, Kristin Chenoweth (Deck the Halls, Our Little Secret) as Olive Snook, Chi McBride (Paid in Full, Let’s Go to Prison) as Emerson Cod, Swoosie Kurtz (Call Me Kat, Bubble Boy) as Lili Charles, and Ellen Greene (Little Shop of Horrors, Me and Him)) as Vivian Charles. The series also included flashbacks to young Ned, who is played by Field Cate (Spooky Buddies, Santa Buddies) and a narration by Jim Dale (Carry On Doctor, Carry On Cleo).
According to Deadline, during the press tour for the Mads Mikkelsen (The Promised Land, The Hunt)-starring horror thriller film, Fuller spoke again, about working on the new seasons, telling The Mary Sue, “We’re working on a Season 3, and the whole cast wants to come back. And, we’ve got a whole story. We’re trying to do another season this year.”
As per Deadline, Pushing Daisies was nominated for several Emmy Awards over its two seasons, scoring 17 nominations and winning seven awards, including Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series and Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for Chenoweth, among others.
Pushing Daisies is available to stream on HBO Max.
