The ton is preparing for another grand season. Bridgerton returns for its fourth installment in early 2026, focusing on Benedict Bridgerton’s long-awaited love story, according to Netflix.
As reported by Netflix, split into two parts, Bridgerton season four will debut part one on January 29, 2026, with part two arriving February 26, 2026. The season shifts the spotlight to Benedict Bridgerton, played by Luke Thompson (Shakespeare’s Globe: Hamlet, Misbehaviour), as he steps into the romantic lead for the first time.
Benedict meets his mysterious new love interest, Sophie Baek, portrayed by Yerin Ha (Halo, Troppo), at Lady Bridgerton’s iconic masquerade ball. Unaware that the “Lady in Silver” is actually a maid, Benedict enlists the help of his sharp-witted sister Eloise portrayed by Claudia Jessie (Vanity Fair, Line of Duty) to uncover her true identity. Beneath the glittering masks, however, lies a story about class, identity, and the unyielding pull of love.
As noted by Netflix’s Tudum, Benedict’s growing affection for Sophie will test his perception of love and society’s rigid hierarchy. Torn between fantasy and reality, he must learn to see beyond appearances before his chance at happiness slips away.
The upcoming season introduces several new characters to Mayfair society, including Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao, The Cleaning Lady, American Born Chinese) and her sister Posy Li (Isabella Wei, 1899, The Flash). Their ambitious mother, Lady Araminta Gun, played by Katie Leung (Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Peripheral), is determined to secure a successful match for her daughters.
“While Rosamund mirrors her mother’s ambition, Posy is free-spirited and often dreamy,” said showrunner Jess Brownell (Inventing Anna, Scandal) in an interview with Netflix. “Araminta and Rosamund are focused on their goals and Benedict just happens to be one of them this season.” Rosamund Li is portrayed by Michelle Mao (American Born Chinese, Grey’s Anatomy), while Posy Li is played by Isabella Wei (1899, Rebel Moon), according to Netflix.
Several fan-favorite cast members will also return, as confirmed by Netflix, including Simone Ashley (Sex Education, The Little Mermaid) as Kate Bridgerton, Jonathan Bailey (Fellow Travelers, Broadchurch) as Anthony Bridgerton, and Nicola Coughlan (Derry Girls, Big Mood) as Penelope Featherington, now navigating the aftermath of her reveal as Lady Whistledown.
Behind the Scenes
As noted by Netflix, filming for Bridgerton season 4 took place at Shepperton Studios near London, where Netflix constructed an expansive two-acre backlot replicating the elegance of Georgian architecture and the bustling streets of Mayfair. Production designer Alison Gartshore (The Crown, The Great), working with supervising art director Antony Cartlidge (Bridgerton: Queen Charlotte, The Serpent), and art director Adam David Grant (Emma, Sanditon), crafted the detailed and immersive sets that bring the Regency-era world vividly to life.
The creative team once again includes Shonda Rhimes (Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal), Betsy Beers (How to Get Away with Murder, Station 19), Tom Verica (Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story, Inventing Anna), and Chris Van Dusen (Private Practice, Grey’s Anatomy) as executive producers, with Brownell returning as showrunner.
Speaking with Netflix, Thompson praised the team for crafting a “magical yet grounded” season. “It’s a twist on Cinderella full of romance and wonder but grounded in truth,” Thompson said. “It’s about finding love between fantasy and reality.”
Season Four draws inspiration from Julia Quinn’s novel An Offer from a Gentleman, blending fairy-tale tropes with Bridgerton’s signature modern flair.
Bridgerton season four premieres in two parts on Netflix. Part 1 on January 29, 2026, and Part 2 on February 26, 2026.
