Bridgerton Cast Reveals Season Two Release Date

In true Bridgerton fashion, the cast of the titillating period piece announced today that the Shonda Rhimes (Greys Anatomy, Scandal) produced romance will return to Netflix on March 25. In 2020, the show premiered for its first season on Christmas day.

This Christmas present came just in time along with the whole cast including Jonathan Bailey (Crashing, Broadchurch), Simone Ashley (Sex Education, The Sister), Claudia Jesse (Vanity Fair, House of Anubis), Luke Newton (The Lodge, Lake Place: Legacy) and Charithra Chandran (Alex Rider, Pillow Talk).

The second season will follow the same model as the Julia Quinn novels, the show’s source material set up, by telling a different story and focusing mainly on the exploits of Anthony Bridgeton and his latest love interest, Kate Sharma.

According to the synopsis provided by The Wrap, Anthony is on the search for a suitable wife to carry on the family name of Bridgerton. The task seems herculean at first, but when Kate and her younger sister, Edwina, move to town from India, he begins to court Edwina. Fans will watch Kate try and derail this relationship, but the ensuing banter and back and forth bickering between Kate and Anthony will start to blossom into an even stronger relationship.

Multiple other cast members will return for season two; however, series favorites and the focuses of season one, Rege-Jean Page (Secret Invasion. Mortal Engines) and Phoebe Dynevor (The Colour Room, Younger), will have lesser responsibilities in season one. In fact, while Dyenvor will still be used in a side character capacity for season two, Page will be completely absent from the second season.

The entire first season of the show is streaming now on Netflix.
