Brian Williams will be making his return to NBC Nightly News after Labor Day.
The anchor is currently on a leave of absence following a major knee replacement surgery. He first announced that he would be away from the desk on August 1, in conjunction with a segment on the procedure he would be undergoing.
“I have worked hard with a lot of help from really good physical therapists,” Williams told NBC earlier this week. “You have to be a motivated patient, and I was a motivated patient. I was motivated to get out of thirty years of knee pain.”
Via NBC, Williams is doing well and has been given the all-clear to return to the nightly news on September 3. He will take over for Lester Holt, who has been covering Williams’ anchor duties in his absence.
