Brett Goldstein, actor and writer of shows like Ted Lasso and Shrinking, is starring in a new series, working in a rather unconventional profession. He is both the writer of the show and the co-showrunner.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Goldstein will be the star of the new series Escorted, a show that will soon be streamed on Prime Video.

Goldstein’s character is a divorced dad who lives in Manhattan. According to the logline of the show, he “accidentally becomes an escort in this romantic comedy about second chances, the mayhem of co-parenting, and whether real intimacy can never be bought.”, according to THR.

Before studying Film at Warwick University, Goldstein went to school in Sutton, Surrey. He studied acting at the American Academy of Dramatic Art in New York at 22 years old. He had started to take up playwriting, planning to take some of them to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, but steered toward comedy later on. In 2006, Goldstein started his stand-up career with his first show, Brett Goldstein Grew Up in a Strip Club.

Warner Bros. is where Goldstein has a deal. They and Amazon MGM Studios are producing the show. Brian Gallivan and Goldstein will be the executive producers, along with Cooper Wehde, Josh Senior, and Molly Mandel.

The Hollywood Reporter says Goldstein has won a total of two Emmys for his work, including his role on Ted Lasso as Roy Kent. He is reported to return to the show’s fourth season to reprise his role. He also won an Emmy for his work on Shrinking alongside Gallivan, for best comedy series.

THR also reports that Goldstein is working on Office Romance, a Netflix feature film, at the moment alongside Jennifer Lopez. He and Joe Kelly from Ted Lasso co-wrote the script. The Second Best Night of Your Life, his first stand-up special, premiered on HBO Max a few months ago.
