Deadline reports that Brett Crawley (M.O.D.O.K., American Dad!) and Robert Maitia (Grace, America Dad!), executive producers and writers of American Dad, are working with Netflix to make a new adult animated comedy show called Anchivo Motors. It is unknown when the show will release, but it is in production as of now.
According to Deadline, Netflix remains mum on the series, not ready to release any information about it yet. However, sources state that the series follows a retired baseball star who seeks to reclaim his fame through a family-owned car dealership. The show is the first original pitch and production for Crawley and Maitia.
Deadline reports that the series will be produced by Underground. The production company is behind Netflix’s upcoming animated adult series, Strip Law, which is set to release February 20. The series follows an uptight Vegas lawyer who teams up with a local magician to spice up his boring practice. The voice cast includes Stephen Root (Get Out, Office Space), Adam Scott (Severance, Madame Web) and Keith David (Greenleaf, The Low Down). Underground’s Steve Fisher (Nurse From Brooklyn, Hell’s Half Acre) and Trevor Engelson (The After Party, All About Steve) are the executive producers.
According to Deadline, both Crawley and Maitia have worked behind the scenes at Fox’s American Dad! for the last ten years. The pair also worked hard on Marvel’s stop-motion series M.O.D.O.K. for Hulu. Created by Patton Oswalt (The Secret Life of Pets, Goat) and Jordan Blum (Community, American Dad!), the short-lived series saw the well-known comic villain ousted from his own organization to combat his biggest challenge yet: being a family man. The series featured the voices of Oswalt, Jon Hamm (Your Friends & Neighbors, Bridesmaids), Nathan Fillion (Superman, The Rookie), Aimee Garcia (Lucifer, Dexter), Melissa Fumero (Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Grosse Pointe Garden Society) and Ben Schwartz (Sonic the Hedgehog, Parks and Recreation). Both Crawley and Maitia are represented by Underground as well.
