Brendan Fraser’s TV Show ‘Professionals’ Canceled By The CW

According to ScreenRant, Professionals, the Brendan Fraser (The Whale) series that aired in 2022 has recently also been canceled by The CW in long line of scripted series that have met the same fate as of late. A series created by Michael Colleary (Face/Off) and Jeff Most (The Crow) AND aired its first season on the network last year. The series is a spin-off of the film Soldiers of Fortune

According to TVLine, the series has joined long list of shows on The CW that have been canceled. Shows such as Gotham Knights, Kung Fu, Walker: Independence, and the  Supernatural prequel The Winchesters. Jeff Most has stated that the team is, “shopping the second season.” Although if the series were to return it seems that it was never part of the plan for Fraser to reprise his role in season two. 

Most also said, ‘’The CW hasn’t renewed us for a second season. However, we are shopping the second season of Professionals to other networks and streaming platforms.’’

According to ScreenRant, in the past year, The CW has been under new owners who have more budget-conscious approach to the network. With this approach, many series have been canceled and unable to find new homes. The CW continues to decide which series to be canceled and which to continue. Recently they renewed Superman and Lois for a fourth season

Professionals is a series spin-off of the film Soldiers of Fortune. The IMBd summary of the series states, ‘’After their advanced medical satellite explodes on deployment, billionaire futurist Peter Swann, and his fiancée, medical visionary Dr. Graciela ‘Grace’ Davila, turn to a hardened former counterintelligence officer.’’ 

The series cast include Elena Anaya (Wonder Woman), Ken Duken (Fate: The Winx Saga), Lisa Loven Kongsli (Justice League), Tom Welling (Smallville), August Wittgenstein (The Crown), Stevel Marc (One Piece), and many others. 

 The first season of Professionals is available to stream on The CW.
