Bravo Releases Episodes Two and Three of ‘Odd Mom Out’ to Increase Viewership

As a way to increase viewership of Bravo’s Odd Mom Out, one of their first scripted shows, which is about motherhood in the Upper East Side of New York City, the network released the second and third episodes online and on video-on-demand services immediately following the season two premiere on June 20, according to Variety.

Both episodes feature well-known celebrities and popular culture references that could help bring a younger audience in to watch the show.

In the second episode, Jill (Jill Kargman) and her family are celebrating Yom Kippur, which means Jill’s in a terrible mood because she’s fasting. One of the guest stars in the episode is Blythe Danner, who plays Jill’s mother in the episode. In the third episode, Jill and Vanessa (KK Glick) are trying to find tickets to Broadway smash hit Hamilton because they feel like they’re the only ones who haven’t seen the show and want to see it before Lin-Manuel Miranda leaves the show. The episode also features some of the ensemble and understudies of the show, including Miranda’s replacement.

More well-known guest stars are expected to appear in the show throughout as later, Drew Barrymore, Kargman’s former sister-in-law, will be guest starring in an episode as well, where she’ll play a neighbor of Jill and Andy who ride out a hurricane with them.

This isn’t the first time a show has put episodes up online before they air as a way to gain viewers. According to The Hollywood Reporter, last summer, Lifetime put the first few episodes of UnReal up after the premiere of the first episode so viewers of the show could binge watch the next few episodes as a way to get to know the characters and start to get a feel for the show.

Also from last summer, after NBC’s Aquarius aired, all of the episodes were released for streaming on NBC’s app, according to TV by the Numbers, which could explain how the show got a second season despite a low-rated first season.

Odd Mom Out airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. on Bravo. The first three episodes of season two are available to watch on Bravo’s website, where online exclusives are also available to watch.
