According to ComicBook, in the post-Oscars episode of Abbott Elementary, Bradley Cooper (The Hangover, Maestro) made surprise cameo appearance as himself. The series did its best to retain all of the viewers that remained after the award ceremony.
In the episode titled “Willard R. Abbott,” the episode starts during Show-And-Tell in Melissa’s (Lisa Ann Walter (The Parent Trap, Bruce Almighty)) classroom. One of the students decided for their show-And-tell item to be a famous person they saw outside of the school. The famous person being Cooper. He explained that when he’s back home in Philly, he eats at the deli across the street from the school.
An ask-and-answer session breaks out in the classroom with faculty and students asking questions. There are several jokes made about his filmography. One student confuses his credit of Guardians of the Galaxy with Spider-Man. He even breaks out the Rocket Raccoon voice saying, “Are you frickin’ kiddin’ me? I’m the voice of Rocket Raccoon!” Another quip Melissa makes is when she stated Cooper was “the face of Alias,” not Jennifer Garner.
The episode continues this gag finishing with the ultimate gut punch on the night of the Oscars. Janine wants to bring up Maestro to Cooper, but Melissa says that his movie is actually Oppenheimer (the film that won best picture right before the episode aired).
According to mxdwn, Abbott Elementary revolves around a group of teachers who work at an elementary school in Philadelphia. The cast includes Brunson as Janine, Tyler James Williams (Let It Shine, Everybody Hates Chris) as Gregory, Lisa Ann Walter (The Parent Trap, Shall We Dance?) as Melissa, Chris Perfetti (The Surrogate, Crossbones) as Jacob, Sheryl Lee Ralph (Moesha, Instant Mom) as Barbara, Janelle James (The Final Straw, Central Park) as Ava, William Stanford Davis (Across the Hall, Please Stand By) as custodian Mr. Johnson, and more.
