FX original comedy series Dave already has a star-studded cast with tons of celebrity cameos. Even so, the series has acquired Academy Award winner Brad Pitt (Troy, Braveheart) to play a small role of, drum roll please…himself! The only thing that varies Pitt from his character in season three episode ten of Dave is his first name.
According to CNN’s entertainment news, Pitt appears in the finale of season three of Dave, as character Luke. The comedy was written and created by Vanessa McGee (Grown-ish, Green Eggs and Ham) and Dave Burd (The Lego Batman Movie, Lil Dicky: Earth), who goes by Lil Dicky. Burd is an American actor, rapper and writer. Most well known for his hit songs Earth and Freaky Friday feat. Chris Brown. Even the production team is star-studded, including well beloved stand up comic, Kevin Hart (Get Hard, Ride Along) in the lineup.
The series follows main character Dave, who is played by Burd himself, as he tries to become one of the greatest rappers of all time, all he has to do is prove it to everyone in his circle. The episode Pitt appears in, titled “Looking for Love,” directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip, The Passage), begins with Pitt heading to Dave’s residence to star in one of his music videos, which was set up by Rachel Mcadams (The Notebook, Mean Girls). When Pitt arrives, he learns that Dave is being held against his will by a crazed superfan called Bella, portrayed by Tenea Intriago (Happy Death Day, Castle Rock).
This is not the first time Dave has acquired cameos from superstars. Individuals like Megan Fox (Jennifer’s Body, This is 40), David Dobrik (An Interrogation, FML), Usher (Hustlers, Justin Bieber’s Believe), Jack Harlow (Scoob!, White Men Can’t Jump), and Machine Gun Kelly (The King of Staten Island, Big Time Adolescence) have all made appearances throughout the show’s ongoing three season run.
If seeing Brad Pitt in a comedy series about a rapper interests you, and how could it not, Dave can be found streaming on Hulu or airing on cable on FXX.
