Both ‘Masters Of Sex’ And ‘Ray Donovan’ Renewed

At Showtime’s TCA presentation David Nevins, Showtime’s president, announced that both Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan will be returning for fourth seasons (via Deadline).

Ray Donovan is an American crime drama that was created by Ann Biderman and first aired in 2013. The first airing of the show broke Showtime’s records and stands as the largest television premiere for the network. Ray Donovan stars Liev Schreiber (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Paula Malcomson (Sons of Anarchy), and Eddie Marsan (V For Vendetta). Liev Schreiber has recently been nominated for an Emmy for his portrayal of his character Ray Donovan. Ann Biderman (Southland), Mark Gordon (Grey’s Anatomy), and David Hollander (The Guardian) serve as executive producers for the series.

Masters of Sex is an American period drama for the network and is based on a biography of the same name written by Thomas Maier. The show was developed by Michelle Ashford (The Pacific) and is executive produced by Ashford, Amy Lippman (Time of Your Life), Carl Beverly (Justified), and Sarah Timberman (Justified). In 2013, the show won a Golden Globe for best drama. Masters of Sex stars Michael Sheen (The Special Relationship), Lizzy Caplan (The Interview), and Caitlin Fitzgerald (Gossip Girl). The third season, which gained actress Emily Kinney for reoccurring role, premiered in early July and will run for 12 episodes.

In their third seasons, Ray Donovan brought in 1.61 million viewers and Masters of Sex drew in 1.1 million.

David Nevins stated that “both Ray Donovan and Masters of Sex are signature series for Showtime… They are emblematic of what Showtime stands for – quality, premium programming that you cannot find anywhere else on television” (Deadline).

Masters of Sex and Ray Donovan will return to Showtime for their fourth seasons. In other Showtime news, HAPPY-ish and Lisa Kudrow’s Web-Therapy have been canceled.
