Amazon has renewed Bosch for a fifth season. Bosch, is an hour long cop drama series starring Titus Welliver (as LAPD homicide detective Harry Bosch). The show is based on the best selling novels by Michael Connelly. The news of the renewal for season five comes before the release of season four, which will be released on Friday April 13th.
Eric Overmyer and Daniel Pyne (executive producers for the show) are going to team up and become co-showrunners for season five. For season four of the series, Overmyer stepped away from the show to oversee Amazon’s Man in the High Castle, but will be returning to Bosch. Overmyer, credits also include: The Wire and Homicide: Life on the Streets.
Sharon Tal Yguado (head of scripted series at Amazon Studios) said, “As Amazon Prime Video’s longest-running one-hour series, Bosch has long been a cornerstone of our scripted programming, and Prime members consistently clamor for more. We are excited to give them another season with Harry Bosch, Jerry Edgar, Grace Billets and the rest of the diverse characters that make up the Bosch universe.”
Connelly also said, “I could not be prouder of the show we are making. Bosch is entertaining and relevant to our world today. On top of that we have a fantastic writing staff and the cast and crew are the best. We feel we are just hitting our stride. Season four is based on ‘Angels Flight’ and I don’t think we could have chosen a more timely story to tell.”
The rest of the cast is: Jamie Hector (Jerry Edgar), Amy Aquino (Lt. Grace Billets), and Madison Lintz (Maddie Bosch). The series itself is produced by Fabrik Entertainment, a Red Arrow Studios company. When Bosch first became available to stream, it was a breakout in 2014, and it is still among Amazon’s most popular original series.
Bosch‘s ten-episode seasons are available to stream on Amazon.
