In the video, the main character Helen’s actor Keira Knightey (Pride and Prejudice, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) walks up to Ben Whisham (Paddington, Mary Poppins Returns) in a bar to whisper Merry Christmas. She proceeds to make a toast to season one. However Whisham proceeds to say, “Don’t forget Season Two, darling.” Then, they unwrap a napkin to reveal a bullet and place it into their drinks.
The official logline released by Netflix is as follows: “Set against the backdrop of London at Christmas, BLACK DOVES is a sharp, action-filled and heartfelt story of friendship and sacrifice. It follows Helen Webb (Keira Knightley), a quick-witted, down to earth, dedicated wife and mother — and professional spy. For 10 years, she’s been passing on her politician husband’s secrets to the shadowy organization she works for: the Black Doves. When her secret lover Jason (Andrew Koji) is assassinated, her spymaster, the enigmatic Reed (Sarah Lancashire), calls in Helen’s old friend Sam (Ben Whishaw) to keep her safe. Together, Helen and Sam set off on a mission to investigate who killed Jason and why, leading them to uncover a vast, interconnected conspiracy linking the murky London underworld to a looming geopolitical crisis.”
Other cast members include Sarah Lancashire (The Dresser, Sons & Lovers), Andrew Koji (Snake Eyes, Boys Kills World), Tracey Ullman (Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, Into the Woods), Ella Lily Hyland (Fifteen-Love, Silent Roar), Andrew Buchan (Having You, All the Money in the World), Kathryn Hunter (Poor Things, A Midsummer Night’s Dream), Gabrielle Creevy (I’m Not In Love, Three Women), Finn Bennet (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, The Nevers), Omari Douglas (A Little Life, Constellations), Isabella Wei (The Crow, Bridgerton), Luther Ford (The Crown, King and Conqueror), Sam Throughton (The Ritual, Robin Hood), Nathan Stewart-Jarrett (Femme, Candyman) and Lizzie Hopley (The Thirteenth Take, Jane Eyre).
