Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, And Noah Taylor Added to Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ Second Season Cast With A New Teaser Released

Netflix has announced new cast members for the platform’s hit-series Wednesday. The show’s new series regulars include Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill, Pinocchio, Red), Billie Piper (Scoop, Doctor Who, The Secret Diary of Call Girl), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things, Soup, The Handmaid’s Tale), Steve Buscemi (Fargo, Ghost World, Reservoir Dogs), who was previously announced, and Noah B. Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime), Deadline reports.

Furthermore, according to Deadline, there have been four season one recurring characters promoted to series regulars. Specifically, they include Luis Guzmán (Traffic, Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love), who plays Wednesday’s dad Gomez Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones (Chicago, Traffic, The Mask of Zorro), who plays Wednesday’s mom Morticia Addams, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo (Devs, The Magic Flute), who plays Sheriff Deputy Ritchie Santiago, and Isaac Ordonez, who portrays Wednesday’s younger brother Pugsley Addams.

According to Deadline, the official Wednesday creators/executive producers Miles Millar (The Shannara Chronicles, Into The Badlands, Smallville) and Al Gough (The Shannara Chronicles, Into The Badlands, Smallville) have teased recently that we might see more Addams family members in this upcoming season. There will also be more possibilities to explore the complicated relationship between Wednesday and her family. So, because of that, fans are pleased to hear that there will be the introduction of a beloved Addams character, Grandmama, who is portrayed by Joanna Lumley (Fool Me Once, The Fugitive, The High Chaparral), and the return of Fred Armisen (Portlandia, Big Mouth, Los Espookkys) as Uncle Fester.

Christopher Lloyd (Taxi, Knuckles, The Big Bang Theory), the original Uncle Fester in the 1990s Addams Family movies, according to Deadline, will be special guest star in this upcoming season in a role not specified yet. Other guest stars, according to Deadline, include Frances O’Connor (The Missing, Mr. Selfridge, The End), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld, Rogue, Line Of Duty), who will play Dr. Fairburn, Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries, Roseanne, Exes and Ohs), Haley Joel Osment (The Kominsky Method, Future Man, The Boys), and Joonas Suotamo (Solo: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Episode IX – The Rise of Skywalker, Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens).

Series regular characters that are returning include Jenna Ortega (Miller’s Girl, Scream VI, The Fallout) as Wednesday, Emma Myers (The Glades, The Baker and the Beauty) as Enid, Joy Sunday (The Beta Test, Dog, Dear White People), who portrays Bianca, Hunter Doohan (Your Honor, Truth Be Told, What/If), as Tyler, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Moosa Mostafa (The Last Bus, Nativity Rocks!) as Eugene, and Georgie Farmer (Of Wolves and Lambs, Doctors, Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle) as Ajax, according to Deadline. Series regulars from season one, Percy Hynes White (The Gifted, Pretty Hard Cases, Between), Jamie McShane (Bloodline, The Lincoln Lawyer, The Passage) and Naomi J Ogawa (Skylines, Assassin) will not be returning.

White, who played the tortured Nevermore artist and psychic Xavier Thorpe, one of the romantic interests for Wednesday, was written off the show, according to Deadline. The reason is because, last fall, there were rumors of White being involved in alleged sexual assault accusations. Specifically, anonymous TikTok posts circulated in January 2023, but the actor has, since then, given a statement to fans in which he denied those allegations.

Netflix has released a teaser in which they announce these casting changes. Specifically, according to Deadline, the teaser in question reveals the name of the first episode from the upcoming season, which is titled  “Here We Woe Again.” The show will still be written by Millar and Gough, and directed by Tim Burton (The Nightmare Before Christmas, Beetlejuice, Corpse Bride), who is also the executive producer.

“We are thrilled that the entire Addams family will be enrolling in Nevermore Academy this season along with a dream cast of icons and new faces,” Millar and Gough shared enthusiastically in a statement, via Deadline.

Wednesday‘s first season became one of the most popular English TV series after the release of season one, with a total of 252.10 million views, according to Deadline. The series was on the Global Top 10 for over 20 weeks. Furthermore, it also was ranked top 10 in 93 countries. The teaser can be seen below:
