Fans of Big Brother won’t have to wait long for the next season of the show premiere. According to The Hollywood Reporter, CBS has given the release date and title for the online-only season of Big Brother. Big Brother: Over The Top will premiere on CBS All Access starting Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10 p.m.
That means fans of the show who have CBS All Access will be without the show for only a week, as the show’s season finale is scheduled for Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9:30 p.m., following the premiere of the new season of Survivor.
This is nothing new to fans of the show who are already subscribed to CBS All Access, as All Access members have the ability to see live feeds of the show with their subscription.
The format of Big Brother: Over The Top will be similar to how Big Brother currently plays out, meaning there will still be multiple twists during each season the show runs.
“We are very excited to embark on this new adventure for Big Brother. With the unique streaming format, not only will viewers get to see everything play out live, including ceremonies and competitions, the audience will also participate in the show like never before. Each week will offer unprecedented interactive opportunities that will have an immediate impact on the game,” executive producer Allison Grodner said.
In addition to hosting the summer editions of Big Brother, Julie Chen will continue to host the online version as well.
There’s no word on who will be cast in the online edition of Big Brother or how many cast mates will be on the show. For the current season, there’s 16 cast members that are competing for 13 weeks. The number of cast members for the online version may be more or less, depending on how many weeks the show runs for.
The news of Big Brother: Over The Top comes just after CBS announced that they’re introducing commercial-free option for CBS All Access subscribers.
Big Brother: Over The Top marks the third show being produced for the subscription service. Star Trek: Discovery and a spinoff of The Good Wife will both be airing on the streaming service as well. The two shows are expected to air at some point in 2017.
Rest easy, though, fans who don’t have a CBS All Access account. Big Brother will still air in the summers as well. The long-stay reality show for the network was renewed for two more seasons.
The season 18 finale of Big Brother is Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9:30 p.m.
