Fans of The Big Bang Theory will have an extra special treat in store for the Young Sheldon finale, according to Deadline, as Jim Parsons (Hidden Figures, Spoiler Alert) and Mayim Bialik (Call Me Kat, Jeopardy!) reprise their respective roles as Sheldon Cooper and Amy Farrah Fowler. On Thursday, May 16th, the episode will air on CBS and be available to stream on Paramount+. There are no details available about how they enter Young Sheldon‘s story.
After The Big Bang Theory‘s May 2019 finale, this will be the first time their characters meet again in person.
In the prequel to Big Bang, Young Sheldon, we follow Sheldon in his early years. In Big Bang, Parsons portrayed him as an adult, and in Young Sheldon, Ian Armitage (Big Little Lies, The Glass Castle) gave him life.
Along with Armitage, the cast includes Parsons (as the narrator), Annie Potts (Pretty In Pink, Ghostbusters: After Life), Montana Jordan (The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter), Lance Barber (Fool’s Paradise, Leatherheads), Raegan Revord (Wish Upon, Alexa & Katie), Emily Osment (Hannah Montana, Young & Hungry), and Zoe Perry (Scandal, Liv & Maddie).
In the 2017–2018 TV season, the prequel series debuted as the top new comedy, and following The Big Bang Theory‘s conclusion, it rose to the top of the comedy ratings in the 2019–2020 season, Per Deadline. Since the premiere of the seventh and final season of the show, Young Sheldon has been TV’s top comedy.

A new spinoff based on the Young Sheldon characters Jordan’s Georgie and Osment’s Mandy was given the go-ahead on Tuesday, according to Deadline. The show follows the characters as they raise their young family in Texas and deal with the difficulties of adulthood, parenthood, and marriage. Molaro, Holland, and Lorre are the creators of the multi-camera project.
