According to a Deadline article, actor John Ross Bowie (Bad Therapy, Between Us) who played Barry Kripke on the CBS sitcom The Big Bang Theory will join the show’s spinoff series. He joins alums Kevin Sussman (2nd Serve, Freeloaders) who played Stuart Bloom, Brian Posehn (Uncle Nick, Hell and Back) who played Bert Kibbler, and Lauren Lapkus (The Out-Laws, Happiest Season) who played Denise. The show The Big Bang Theory was a popular CBS sitcom that aired from 2007 to 2019 and followed the lives of two roommates, Leonard and Sheldon, who worked as physicists at the California Institute of Technology. They had brains when it came to math but not when in social settings.
Per Deadline, the show is still in the works and has not been approved officially. The actors have signed a talent holding deal with WBTV talent with the intent to start on the series. The show is created by Chuck Lorre (Nathan’s Choice) and features writer Zak Penn (Free Guy, Ready Player One) and Big Bang Theory co-writer, Bill Brady. They all collectively co-wrote the script.
Deadline says that Bowie’s character, loved by fans and audiences, was written into the show. Bowie’s character is known for having a speech impediment which makes his pronunciation of “r” and “l” sound like he’s saying “w”. Besides The Big Bang Theory, Bowie has been in numerous other shows as a feature character, one of them being in Lorre’s comedy series on CBS called States of Al, and an ABC comedy Speechless. Bowie recently took to social media to announce the news.
The Big Bang Theory received a total of 239 award nominations and 58 wins during its run. These wins included 10 Emmys, seven Critics Choice TV awards, a Golden Globe, and three Television Critics Association Awards.
