According to Screenrant, within the latest episode named,’The Black Spot’ bring one of the most tragic stories with the Stephen King’s (The Mist, The Shining) novel to life. The titlalur location was a safe haven for the black soldier and the townspeople, but later one was set ablaze by a white supremacist group, in which Pennywise took the form of a black bird to feed of the fear.
Reported by Screenrant, the series creators, Andy (Mama, The Flash) and Barbara Muschietti (The Electric State, Bird Box) speak with TV Insider about the experience of recreated the seen, “Well, the Black Spot also was one of those big tent poles when we decided to create the story. This story has a conclusive moment, even though that there’s a third act, as you will, of things happening after the Black Spot, but it is one of the big catastrophic events around which the story is built, which was the idea of the show in big terms, is making three seasons and making one season where there’s a big climatic moment based on one of the big catastrophic events of the interludes. So the Black Spot was very important for us. It was sort of like a finish line for us, and so basically everything that you see, that builds to this. It’s a buildup towards the Black Spot. All the stories converge there. And that’s why it was very important.”
Stated by Screenrant, this episode was truly impactful, featuring the major character death of Richie, played by Arian S. Cartaya (Birdhouse, Bad Monkey). He heroically sacrificed himself to save Marge, portrayed by Matilda Lawler (The Santa Clauses, Station Eleven), by placing her in a cooler to protect her from the fire engulfing the nightclub. Additionally, we see Francis Shaw, played by James Remar (Dexter, Black Lightning), destroying the protective sigil and freeing Pennywise. He intends to use the fear generated by Pennywise to manipulate people and get them back in line.
While viewers await on the final episode of the series which is scheduled to air on December 14, 2025, all current episodes of It: Welcome to Derry are available to stream on HBO Max.
