The CW has named Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner for Arrow‘s seventh season. She has been with the show from the start with season one. She started off with being a writer for the series and has written two dozen episodes since. In the fourth season she became the co-producer, and in season five she became a co-executive producer. She has also worked on DC Legends of Tomorrow as a consulting producer and writer. Outside of the Arrowverse she has also written for Hart of Dixie and Brothers & Sisters.
Greg Berlanti (the overseer to all DC series) said this about Scwartz, “We are all so incredibly thrilled to announce Beth Schwartz as the new showrunner of Arrow. She has been a source of some of the show’s most exciting and memorable moments from the beginning. Beth is a true leader and a captivating storyteller, and we all can’t wait for the audience to see what she and her team dream up as they take Arrow into its next big chapter.”
The current showrunners for Arrow are shifting roles. Wendy Mericle (the current co-showrunner and executive producer for Arrow) is leaving Arrowverse all together at the end of season six. Marc Guggenheim (the co-creator to Arrow and DC Legends of Tomorrow and an executive producer and co-showrunner) is going to become an executive consultant for both of the shows. Phil Klemmer will become the sole showrunner for DC Legends of Tomorrow.
Earlier this month it was announced that all the shows in the Arrowverse will be renewed. Berlanti’s other DC showrunners for the Arrowverse will remain the same: Todd Helbing is showrunner on The Flash; Robert Rovner and Jessica Queller remain co-showrunners on Supergirl; and Salim Akil remains showrunner on Black Lightning.
