Another of Batman’s rogues’ gallery will be joining the Arrowverse. Variety has confirmed today that Bridget Regan (Jane the Virgin) will be joining Batwoman season three as the classic villainess, Poison Ivy.
Poison Ivy, aka Pamela Isley, was a botany student at Gotham University with plans on changing the world for the better. All that changes, however, when a colleague positions her with various plant toxins, turning her into the dangerous supervillain Poison Ivy. Her abilities include secreting dangerous toxins, the ability to control the growth of plants, and hypnosis. She often uses her powers to do what she feels is right, even if Batman or others don’t agree with her dangerous methods.
Regan will be in Batwoman season three as a recurring role. She is familiar with the comic book TV genre as she previously starred in ABC’s Agent Carter as Dottie Underwood.
Regan will be the third live-action iteration of Poison Ivy. The character first appeared in live-action in the 1997 film Batman and Robin with Uma Thurman (Kill Bill) in the role, then multiple actresses took on the role in Fox’s Gotham, including Clare Foley (Sinister), Maggie Geha (Mr. Iglesias), and Peyton List (Cobra Kai).
Poison Ivy is not the only Batman character to join Batwoman season three. Victoria Cartagena joined the main cast of season three back in July as the GCP officer Renee Montoya. Cartagena will be reprising the role after previously portraying the character in Gotham.
Batwoman season three is set to premiere on October 13 on The CW.
