After a 17 month hiatus, Barry is back on track and filming again. According to ScreenRant, one of HBO’s brightest original comedies has returned to set, after the pandemic derailed the show’s production of its third season.
Thanks to a post on Twitter from Henry Winkler (Happy Days), fans can now be assured that Barry is on the way once again. The post depicted a movie poster for a reproduction of David Lynch’s 1980 historical drama, The Elephant Man, put on by Gene Cousineau, Winkler’s character on the show. The caption of the Tweet read, “First day back on the Barry set…Season 3.”
Other than announcing the return of the show, Winkler’s post also might give a sneak peek of what is to come on the acting side of Barry Berkman’s life. The writers room has done an amazing job intertwining the highs and lows of being a hitman with the acting projects Berkman, played by SNL alum Bill Hader (Trainwreck), is given. Who knows how The Elephant Man could factor into Berkman’s ensuing personal vendetta with his former mentor, Stephen Root’s (Dodgeball) Monroe Fuches.
With season two ending in such a nail-biting place, fans will be glad to see everyone back on set. Alongside Hader, Winkler, and Root, fan-favorites Anthony Carrigan’s (Fatherhood) NoHo Hank and Sarah Goldberg’s (Hindsight) Sally Reed will return for the third installment. Although nothing has been given out about the plot, fans left the show in a precarious spot with many important points set to play out. Cousineau now knows who Barry truly is, and Barry is on a revenge path to kill Fuches who revealed his secret. The suspense is high as the walls continue to close in on everyone’s favorite hitman turned aspiring actor.
HBO is keen on releasing the third installment of one of its best new shows. Alongside Succession, Barry has been making waves in the awards circuit. From a one-off joke that seemed perfect as an SNL skit to one of the most dynamic shows on air, Barry has been a beautiful surprise. Stay tuned for more on the show as it continues to film its third season.
