Barry Keoghan Added To Cast Of ‘Peaky Blinders’ Movie On Netflix

According to Deadline, Barry Keoghan (Eternals, American Animals) is being added to Netflix’s Peaky Blinders film cast. He is the most highly anticipated actor in the film alongside Cillian Murphy (Oppenheimer, The Dark Knight). Deadline reported last month that Rebecca Ferguson (The Greatest Showman, Mission Impossible – Rogue Nation) is on the cast as well. Along with Ferguson, Keoghan’s role remains a secret.

Another article published on Deadline stated that in June of this year, Netflix approved Peaky Blinders. The film will star Murphy, who will return to acting as Tommy Shelby, the leader of a gangster family.

The renewal of the multi-awarded narrative was written by Steven Knight (Rogue Nation, Locke), the show’s original creator. He will join the team of producers such as Caryn Mandabach (In with the Flins), Guy Heely (Together, We Live In A Time) and Murphy. The executive producers are Andrew Warren (Ted Lasso), David Kosse (The Killing of A Sacred Deer), David Mason (Utopia), Tom Harper (Heart of Stone) and Jamie Glazebrook (The IT Crowd). The film will be connected to BBC Film when it is produced.

As plot details are under the radar, Knight informed Deadline that a motion picture will be set during World War Two and will begin filming this year.

Keoghan was featured In Saltburn, which lead him to receive a Golden Globe and a BAFTA nomination, and he was awarded, along with Murphy. In addition to those nominations, he gained a Best Supporting Actor Oscar Nomination and won a BAFTA for the show The Banshees of Inisherin. He has had an eventful year, from starring in Masters of the Air on Apple TV+ to Bird, directed by Andrea Arnold (American Honey) that premiered at the Cannes Film Festival.

His other works include Bring Them Down from TIFF, an untitled film directed by Trey Edward Shults (Waves, It Comes At Night) with Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) and The Weekend (The Idol)  as well as MGM Studios’ Crime 101.

Keoghan is represented by B-Side Management, Entertainment 360, Sloane Offer and WME.
