Deadline reports that HBO’s Succession season four episode four reached a series high audience of 2.6 million viewers across telecasts and HBO Max on Sunday. HBO’s Barry also debuted on Sunday with two episodes that reached 710,000 viewers with the first and 550,000 million with the second, according to HBO.
The debut of Succession’s fourth season has nearly 8 million viewers in total. Season four’s premier had a same-day audience of 2.3 million, making last week’s episode an 11% increase in viewership since then and a 4% increase since last week’s episode, which had 2.5 million viewers. The premiere of season four was up 62% from the premiere of season three in October of 2021, which had an audience of 1.4 million. Season three held the record for best premiere night performance of an HBO original since the May 2020 launch of HBO Max.
The second episode of season four is the only episode of the season that did not have an increase in viewership, with about 2 million same-day viewers. Episode four is the third time that the series had record viewership.
Succession stars Jeremy Strong (The Judge, The Big Short) as Kendall Roy, Sarah Snook (The Dressmaker, Jessabelle) as Siobhan Roy, Brian Cox (Braveheart, Troy) as Logan Roy, Kieran Culkin (Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Fargo) as Roman Roy, Nicholaus Braun (Sky High, The Perks of Being a Wallflower) as Greg, Alan Ruck (Justified, The Dropout) as Connor Roy, and Matthew Macfayden (The Last Kingdom, Ripper Street) as Tom Wambsgans.
Season three of HBO’s Barry had a sharp decline on linear networks due to audiences access to same-day streaming. Season two had the most same-day viewers, with a finale that received 2.7 million viewers, and an average of 1.6 million viewers an episode on HBO. The season one finale received 774,000 million viewers.

Succession airs on HBO Sundays at 9 p.m. ET/PT and on HBO Max at 9 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. PT, followed by Barry at 10 p.m. on HBO and 10 p.m. ET/ 7 p.m. PT on HBO Max.
