Saturday Night Live made their post writers strike debut on NBC this past Saturday October 14 with host Pete Davidson (The King of Staten Island), an SNL alum, and musical guest Ice Spice (Boy’s Liar Pt. 2). Occasionally, musicians are brought on to host as well as perform their music. Bad Bunny (WHERE SHE GOES), is preparing for double duty on October 21, which will be his first hosting gig on the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, in the promo video released on Wednesday for the upcoming episode, Benito, Bad Bunny’s real first name, squares up to fight another version of him that goes by Bad Bunny.
Bad Bunny served as the show’s musical guest back in February 2021 with host Regé-Jean Page. Until actors reach an agreement with AMPTP, Saturday Night Live will continue to have non-SAG-AFTRA talent hosting the show. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the promo video featuring a WWE style introduction is a reflection of Bad Bunny’s interest in professional wrestling, having even competed in several WWE events. Bad Bunny released his album Nadie Sabe Lo Que Va a Pasar Mañana, last Friday. The album title, which translates to ‘Nobody Knows What’s Going to Happen Tomorrow’, is the Latino musician’s fifth studio album. In support of his new album, Bad Bunny released US dates for his 2024 Most Wanted Tour. In addition to being an arena selling performer, Bad Bunny has also collected some acting credits, including a role in Bullet Train and Cassandro. Bad Bunny is not the first star to take on double duty in studio 8H. Guests such as Lizzo (Truth Hurts), Harry Styles (Golden), Paul Simon (You Can Call Me Al), The Rolling Stones (Paint It, Black), Stevie Wonder (Superstition), and Dolly Parton (Jolene) have been given the daunting opportunity to serve as the show’s host and musical performer.
