Fans of ABC’s The Bachelor franchise may not be visiting paradise this summer after all. According to Deadline, production for the spin-off series Bachelor in Paradise has been suspended following claims of misconduct.
A statement issued by Warner Bros. said, “We have become aware of allegations of misconduct on the set of ‘Bachelor in Paradise’ in Mexico. We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action.” Warner Bros. did not answer Deadline’s request for a further explanation.
The premise of the series is to set up an uneven number of men and women who previously competed on The Bachelor or The Bachelorette while they all live together in paradise, also known as Sayulita, Mexico. Each week new contestants come in and either the male or female competitors hand out roses to the outnumbered gender group of the week. The contestants that don’t receive roses leave, as host Chris Harrison loves to say, broken hearted. The three seasons prior have all ended with at least one engagement. The contestants tend to be comprised of former fan favorites and villains that are guaranteed to start drama throughout the season.
The dating reality series was set to return for its fourth season on Tuesday, August 8 at 8/7c. The season’s cast includes Corinne Olympios, Amanda Stanton, Raven Gates, Alexis Waters, Lacey Mark, Kristina Schulman, Danielle Maltby, Taylor Nolan, Jasmine Goode, Derek Peth, DeMario Jackson, Nick “St. Nick” Benvenutti, Robby Hayes, Ben Zorn,Vinny Ventiera, and Alex Woytkiw. The series has been known to bring back contestants from previous seasons, so many other familiar faces may return to paradise if the season resumes production.
Similar to the The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Bachelor in Paradise has been known to create some happy couples, though most of the relationships that develop throughout the season do not succeed once filming concludes.
Hollywood Reporter shared tweet from Reality Steve, a blogger who in known for making predictions about the franchise, that shows much of the cast together at an airport. Check out the tweet below.
Reality Steve also tweeted some spoiler alerts that have yet to be verified. According to the blogger, the allegations involve former villains Corinne Olympios and DeMario Jackson. He also tweeted that the season has been cancelled, though neither representatives for Warner Bros. or ABC have confirmed the statements.
