Another familiar face has joined the cast of Marvel’s Daredevil: Born Again. According to Comicbook, Ayelet Zurer (Angels & Demons, Man of Steel) will reprise her role as Vanessa Fisk, the wife of Vincent D’Onofrio’s (Full Metal Jacket, Law & Order: Criminal Intent) Wilson Fisk/Kingpin. She portrayed the character in the original Netflix series centered on the devil of Hell’s Kitchen.
According to Comicbook, Zurer was captured on set along with D’Onofrio by photographer Steve Sands, who shared the reunion via his Instagram stories. Zurer’s role as Fisk’s Achilles heel had originally been recast, with Sandrine Holt taking on the role in the reboot. Zurer is the latest original Netflix-verse actor to make a return to the series in recent months.
Jon Bernthal (The Walking Dead, We Own The City) reportedly confirmed his return as Frank Castle aka The Punisher with a photo on set alongside Charlie Cox (Treason, Stardust) and Deborah Ann Woll (Escape Room, True Blood). Woll also recently rejoined the series as Karen Page along with Elden Henson’s (Idle Hands, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1) Foggy Nelson. When the series was first announced, it was reported neither Page nor Henson were reprising their roles as Matt Murdock’s best friends and confidants.
Daredevil: Born Again, which reportedly finished the majority of its filming this week, went through a massive creative shift, according to Comicbook. Toward the end of 2023, Marvel Studios let go of head writers Chris Ord (Covert Affairs, Deck the Halls) and Matt Corman (The Brave, Covert Affairs) as part of a creative overhaul. The change could have been part of Marvel’s’ different approach to its TV series, which had received poor ratings with last year’s disappointing Secret Invasion.
Along with the previously announced cast, the series has enlisted Genneya Walton (Candy Cane Lane, Extant) as a character possibly connected to the Netflix original, and Wilson Bethel (Hart of Dixie, All Rise), who portrayed Bullseye/Benjamin Pointdexter in the final season of Daredevil. Arty Froushan (Carnival Row, The Persian Version), Michael Gandolfini (Beau Is Afraid, Cherry), Margarita Levieva (In From the Cold, The Deuce), and Nikki M. James (Proven Innocent, Severance) are also a part of the series.
Daredevil: Born Again is set for a 2025 premiere on Disney+.
