According to Deadline, Oscar and Tony-award-winning actress and four-time Emmy nominee, Marcia Gay Harden (Murder in Small Town, Daughter of the Bride), joined the cast of Trinity, a Netflix drama series. Jed Mercurio (Line of Duty, Meet the Richardsons) will be the showrunner, executive producer, and writer.
Deadline states that the show will follow a female Naval Officer’s love affair with a Secretary of Defense who may be linked to a secret conspiracy. Richard Madden (Game of Thrones, The Take) will portray the Secretary of Defense, Webb Preston. Actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw (The War Between the Land and the Sea, Come Away) also stars as Commander Katherine Decker, who is the second in command on the USS Kansas, a Nuclear submarine. Harden will be playing character Margaret Vandenburg, the CEO of the family’s empire. She will be leading them to become a prominent family in the political scene.
Deadline also mentions Harden’s recent Emmy-nominated role in The Morning Show on Apple TV and So Help Me Todd on CBS. Harden’s recent resume goes on to include Knox Goes Away, A24’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles opposite Elle Fanning (I Am Sam, Babel) and Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole, Dogville), The Dreadful, Street Smart, and season two of Murder in a Small Town. Harden joined these projects alongside some of the most famous actors in Hollywood, including Michael Keaton (The Founder, Spotlight), Sophie Turner (Game of Thrones, Barely Lethal), and Kit Harrington (To The Sea, Redundant), to name a few.
Deadline also mentions that Jimmy Mulville (Motions From Outer Space, Have I Got News For You), Wendy Mericle (So Help Me Todd, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow: Their Time Is Now), and Michael Cuesta (American Assassin, A Holmes of Their Own) will also serve as executive produces along with Mercurio. Cuesta will also direct the series’ first two episodes.
