Officials from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office have confirmed they are reviewing a sexual assault case against Kevin Spacey. The Special Victims Bureau began the investigation back in December 2017 regarding allegations from an adult male against the actor for an “event” that occurred in 1992.
The Los Angeles DA’s office confirmed to CNN they had been given the case earlier this month. It was presented to the entertainment sex crimes task force on April 5 for consideration.
This newest allegation comes six months after Spacey was accused by actor Anthony Rapp of unwanted sexual advances when the young man was only 14. At the time of this revelation, Spacey quickly took to Twitter to respond he did not recall the event and added, “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years.”
Within days, a string of other incidents involving Spacey on the House of Cards set came to light including alleged sexual harassment and assault. Netflix subsequently cut ties with the actor costing the service millions of dollars in production time. The series will continue for a final season with Robin Wright as the lead.
Sadly, allegations against Spacey did not end there. Staff from The Old Vic Theater in London claimed that between 1995 and 2013 over 20 allegations of inappropriate behavior were filed against Spacey with the bulk of those claims occurring prior to 2009. Officials from the theater were unable to verify many of the claims.
Since Rapp’s allegations were brought to light, Spacey has supposedly sought an unspecified treatment. His camp has been quiet and he has not been seen publicly since.
