It’s now the end of the ‘Arrow-verse’ at The CW. The network has passed on ordering the Arrow spinoff entitled Green Arrow and the Canaries, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The drama, which premiered last year as a backdoor pilot during Arrow‘s final season, surrounded the women of the series, featuring Mia Smoak, played by Katherine McNamara (Maze Runner), Laurel Lance, played by Katie Cassidy (Gossip Girl), and Dinah Drake, played by Juliana Harkavy (Last Shift).
The DC Comics series concluded its eight-season run last year. Arrow follows billionaire Oliver Queen who takes up the alter-ego of Arrow and works towards justice for those who his family let down and eventually restoring the safety to Starling City. The ‘Arrow-verse’ consists of other The CW series, including The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, Supergirl, and Batwoman. With Green Arrow and the Canaries now not moving forward at the network, The CW hopes to look forward to other DC-verse series. Greg Berlanti (Supergirl, The Flash) is developing a spinoff of Black Lightening, entitled, Painkiller. The former series is concluding its run with its fourth season.
Arrow showrunner Beth Schwartz (Legends of Tomorrow) penned the script for Green Arrow and the Canaries. Following news of the network’s passing of this series, Schwartz has begun working on a Netflix Show from DC comics entitled Sweet Tooth.
