This fall, the action-packed story of Oliver Queen, aka the masked vigilante, Arrow, will return for Season 5 on The CW. Arrow is a superhero series based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow. In Season 4, Arrow had just learned that he has a ten-year-old son, and he was continuing his long battle with Damien Dahrk, head of the terrorist organization H.I.V.E. Now, Variety has revealed that for Season 5 will add a new vigilante character with a difficult past, Artemis, who will be played by Madison McLaughlin.
McLaughlin will play Evelyn Sharp, who appeared in an episode in Season 4. Her character briefly impersonated the Black Canary, a member of Team Arrow, after she was killed by Damien Dahrk. McLaughlin’s character was using the mask of the Black Canary to take revenge Dahrk, who murdered her parents. Evelyn Sharp will return, starting in episode 2 of Season 5, according to Variety, and will become the archery expert Artemis as she attempts to fulfill her dreams of revenge.
Artemis is also a character featured in the DC Universe of comic characters. Artemis in the comics is the daughter of two villains, Tigress and Sportsmaster. Although, in the animated television series Young Justice, the character of Artemis was much more of a clear hero and fought beside Green Arrow as his sidekick. According to Variety, based on the traits already shown by the character Evelyn Sharp in the show, she will for sure be demonstrating some questionable choices, but the members of Team Arrow will be tasked with keeping her on the side of good.
This is not McLaughlin’s first stint on a supernatural teen drama. She was also featured in an episode of MTV’s Teen Wolf and The CW’s Supernatural. She has also had a recurring role in Major Crimes for TNT and Chicago P.D. on NBC.
Also joining the cast of Arrow Season 5 is Josh Segarra, who will play Adrian Chase, the District Attorney of Star City and an ally to Oliver Queen, who is now the city’s mayor, according to Deadline. Arrow premieres this fall on October 5th at 8PM. It will be followed by a new drama from The CW as previously reported here.
