Arnold Schwarzenegger Invests in Genius Brands International, Will Be Star of Late Stan Lee’s Animated Series ‘Superhero Kindergarten’

Arnold Schwarzenegger (Terminator) made a strong investment into international children’s media company, Genius Brands. The investment coincides with his role as producer-star roles in Stan Lee’s Superhero Kindergarten, according to Deadline.

Scripted by Fabian Nicieza (Deadpool) and set for a 2021 premiere on Amazon Prime Video, the animated series will follow Schwarzenegger as a “former superhero Captain Courage, who has traded in his life of fighting crime for being a kindergarten teacher that helps train young superheroes,” via Indie Wire. Captain Courage provides action, comedy and life lessons about health, exercise and nutrition to his students. The show will be co-produced with China’s Alibaba Group, Lee’s POW! Entertainment and Schwarzenegger’s Oak Productions.

The idea for Superhero Kindergarten came to fruition as Lee loved Schwarzenegger’s 1990 Kindergarten Cop and Schwarzenegger’s excitement about the potential for a sequel, via Indie Wire.

The series follows the theme of Lee’s most notable works: superhero movies, of which he was a writer, editor, publisher and producer for Marvel. His works include but are not limited to The Fantastic Four, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and The Avengers. Although Lee is no longer alive, he will make animated cameos in all episodes of Superhero Kindergarten like he did with Marvel-related productions.

Schwarzenegger announced he would receive warrants for common stock in Genius Brands that would act as an advance on his profits from participation in Superhero Kindergarten. To Genius Brands’ CEO Andy Heyward, having Schwarzenegger as a warrant holder “is a tribute to his belief in both the series and Genius Brands,” via Deadline.

Superhero Kindergarten joins the ranks of Genius Brands with Nick Jr.’s Rainbow Rangers, Netflix’s Llama Llama, which features Jennifer Garner (13 Going on 30), toddler brand Baby Genius; adventure comedy STEM series Thomas Edison’s Secret Lab; entrepreneurship series Warren Buffett’s Secret Millionaires Club; and Stan Lee’s Cosmic Crusaders, created with Stan Lee’s Pow! Entertainment, via Deadline.

The trailer that details Lee’s last project can be seen below before it arrives to the streaming platform next year.
