Apple TV+’s long-awaited fourth season of Ted Lasso has begun production, according to a YouTube video uploaded by the streaming platform. From left to right in the video are: Jeremy Swift (Downton Abbey, Foyle’s War), Hannah Waddingham (Game of Thrones, Sex Education), Juno Temple (Vinyl, Dirty John), and Jason Sudeikis (Saturday Night Live, Hit Monkey), who will make their return in the fourth season.
According to Deadline, the four actors, in addition to Brendon Hunt (We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses 2) and Brett Goldstein (The Garfield Movie, All of You), may have three-year contracts, which reinforces the theory that Ted Lasso‘s new arc will be three seasons long.
After a large casting search for an actor with experience playing soccer, Deadline notes that Ted’s son, Henry, will now be played by Grant Feely (Obi-wan Kenobi, Five Nights at Freddy’s), with the speculation that the part has a chance to become a series regular. The new cast, according to Deadline, also include Tanya Reynolds (Sex Education, Delicious), Jude Mack (Such Brave Girls, Back in Action), Faye Marsay (Adolescence, The White Queen), Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey (Jurassic World: Dominion, Heirs of the Night), and Abbie Hern (My Lady Jane, Enola Holmes 2). They will all become series regulars. Some of their speculated roles include players for the AFC Richmond women’s team, which is the focus of the show’s new arc, according to mxdwn. The fourth season sees Ted (Sudeikis) returning to Richmond to coach a second division women’s team, which will prove challenging. Throughout the season, Ted and his team will learn to take risks and move forward, almost blindly, all in the name of taking chances.
The first three seasons, which are all now available to stream on Apple TV, saw widespread critical acclaim. In addition to garnering overwhelmingly positive reviews, Ted Lasso earned back-to-back Emmy awards in the Outstanding Comedy Series category.
