Apple TV+’s ‘Sugar’ Starring Colin Farrell Renewed For Season Two

Apple TV+ has announced that Sugar, starring Colin Farrell (The Penguin, The Banshees of Inisherin), has been renewed for a second season, according to ComicBook. The first season premiered to high critical acclaim earlier this year, and fans cannot get enough of Farrell playing detective John Sugar.

According to ComicBook, Apple TV+’s head of programming, Matt Cherniss, stated, “Since its premiere, audiences have been gripped by the mysteries and twists of ‘Sugar,’ with an incredible performance by Colin Farrell at the center…Colin, Simon Kinberg, Audrey Chon and the entire team behind this series have brilliantly blended genres to create a compelling, can’t-miss series that keeps viewers guessing, and we cannot wait to see where Detective John Sugar finds himself in season two.”

The series follows a private investigator, John Sugar, who is hired by a well-off movie producer to find his missing granddaughter. Besides Farrell, the season one cast also includes Amy Ryan (The Office), Nate Corddry (The Circle), Dennis Boutsikaris (Better Call Saul), James Cromwell (The Green Mile) and Alex Hernandez (The Peripheral). The production crew was elated about the renewal, with executive producers Audrey Chon (Oldboy) and Simon Kinberg (The Martian) stating, “We’re so grateful to our partners at Apple for their support, our showrunner Sam Catlin, the brilliant Colin Farrell, and of course, our viewers. We can’t wait to get John Sugar back on the case,” according to ComicBook.

Fans will be excited to know that the second season is already mapped out, with ComicBook noting, “According to Apple TV+, season two of Sugar will see Sugar find himself back in Los Angeles taking on another missing person’s case, as he continues to look for answers surrounding his missing sister. As fans who have seen the first season of the series know, that will surely build upon the surprising twist that Sugar is secretly a space alien.” Although not much else is known about specific details for the second season, both cast and crew are excited to jump back into the world of Sugar.
