Apple TV Unveils Premiere Date For Severance’s Delayed Second Season In New Teaser

After months of production delays due to the labor strikes of 2023, Apple TV+ announced the premiere date for the highly anticipated second season of Severance. According to Deadline, the thriller sci-fi series returns on the platform on Friday, January 17, 2025. View the teaser trailer below.

Created by writer Dan Erickson (Chambers) with Ben Stiller (Tropic Thunder, High Desert) attached as an EP, Severance follows the cautionary tale of Mark Scout (Adam Scott, (Madam Web, Parks and Recreation), an emotionally wounded man who finds solace in his work at Lumon Industries. The tech conglomerate promises its dedicated employees the perfect “work-life balance” by surgically implanting a device that splits one’s work consciousness from the rest of one’s life. What Mark thinks is a direct way to separate from his grief reveals a larger, darker conspiracy entangling government officials and clear company oversight.

Season one concluded with Mark and his small cohort of employees attempting a coup to unmask the sinister happenings of Lumon. Season two explores the consequences of their actions. Little is revealed in the 40-second clip as we see flashes of our terrorized coworkers and the dark silhouette of the Lumon facility. We do see a newcomer to the cast in Game of Thrones actress Gwendoline Christie, who quips, “You should have left” at the end of the teaser.

In addition to Scott, the returning main cast includes Britt Lower (High Maintenance, Casual) John Turturro (Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Barton Fink), Zach Cherry (Fallout, You), Patricia Arquette (Medium, Toy Story 4), Dichen Lachman (Marvel’s Agents of S.H.E.I.L.D., Jurassic World: Dominion), Jen Tullock (Spirited, Perry Mason), Christopher Walken (Dune: Part Two, The Outlaws), Tramell Tillman (Hunters, Elementary) and Michael Chernus (Dead Ringers, Little America). Deadline reports Sarah Bock (Brusier, The Connoisseur) has joined as a series regular.

According to Deadline, Erickson, Stiller, Scott, and Arquette are joined by fellow executive producers Caroline Baron (Lisey’s Story, Bel Canto), Jackie Cohn (In the Dark, Plus One), Sam Donovan (The Widow, Humans), Mark Friedman (Dispatches from Elsewhere, Wayward Pines), John Lesher (End of Watch, Birdman), Richard Schwartz (Mulholland Drive, Woke), Jordan Tappis (The First, Grand Army), Nicholas Weinstock (Thelma, Incognito), and Beau Willimon (House of Cards, Andor). Stiller will also direct five episodes of the 10-episode season along with Donovan, Jessica Lee Gagńe (Mrs. America, All Day and a Night), and Uta Briesewitz (Fellow Travelers, The Wheel of Time).

Season two of Severance will be released weekly through March 21, according to Deadline. Season one is available to stream on Apple TV+.
