Apple TV+ Renews Comedy Series ‘The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin’ For Season Two

Apple TV+ announced that their comedy series The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin has been renewed for a second season, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Created by Claire Downes (Nanny McPhee, The Job Lot), Stuart Lane (The Job Lot, We Can Be Heroes) and Ian Jarvis (The Job Lot, We Can Be Heroes), the series follows a posse of highwaymen ready to make a name for themselves, lead by the historical but fictionalized figure, Dick Turpin.

Starring as Dick Turpin is Noel Fielding (The Mighty Boosh, Bunny and the Bull), who channels the narcissism and charisma required in his performance of the lead role. From the official trailer teasing the debuting season, Apple TV+ presents Dick Turpin as mysterious character quickly undercut by his comedy. Dick Turpin is nothing if not confident, goofy and “new school” as far as highwaymen go, the trailer reveals.

The Hollywood Reporter added that “The British series, which debuted worldwide on March 1, has comic and actor Fielding playing 18th century highwayman Dick Turpin alongside his merry band of outlaws.” The season finale premiered on March 29, 2024, concluding Turpin’s cliffhanger escapades in the fifth episode, “Tommy Silversides.” With the green light from Apple TV+ for second season, Apple TV+ shared with The Hollywood Reporter that “Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavors, including a brush with celebrity,” in the season to come.

While casting information for season two has yet to be confirmed, Ellie White (Wonka, The Windsors), Asim Chaudry (People Just Do Nothing, Black Mirror: Bandersnatch), Duayne Boachie (Supacell, Blue Story), Hugh Bonneville (Downton Abbey, Paddington), Marc Wootton (Greatest Days, Gooseberry) and Mark Heap (Stardust, Lark Rise to Candleford) joined Fielding as the ensemble cast in season one via The Hollywood Reporter.

The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin is executive produced by Fielding, Anthony Wilcox (Call Her King, Burnout), Kenton Allen (Him & Her, Mum), Victoria Grew (We Are Not Alone, Back) and Ben Palmer (The Inbetweeners, Breeders), who is in the works to direct season two per The Hollywood Reporter. The second season is in production and does not yet have a release date.
