Today Apple Tv+ released the first trailer for their new animated series Frog and Toad based on the classic children’s book of the same title. According to Collider, the new show will star Nat Faxon (Friends from College) and Kevin Michael Richardson (The Super Mario Bros. Movie) as the titular, famous characters. It is said that the show will highlight the friendship between the two characters established in the four-book series that won the Caldecott and Newbery Honor.
Per Apple via Variety, the show is described as, “Frog and Toad are best friends who know that the true secret to friendship is not only enjoying the things you have in common, but embracing the things that make you different. Our differences are what makes us special, and Frog and Toad celebrate them in what makes them unique.”
The announcement comes as Apple TV+ reveals it will bring to the streaming platform a kids and family slate, via Variety. Of this slate will include this new original series as well as a new Peanuts special and other original series.
Emmy Award winner Rob Hoegee (Stillwater, Niko & the Sword of Light) serves as showrunner for Frog and Toad, and Emmy Award winning production studio Titmouse (Big Mouth, Star Trek: Lower Decks, The Legend of Vox Machina) produces the animation. Hoegee executive produces alongside artists Adrianne Lobel and Adam Lobel, as well as Titmouse’s Chris Prynoski (The Legend of Vox Machina), Shannon Prynoski (Fairfax), Antonio Canobbio (Arlo the Alligator Boy) and Ben Kalina (Big Mouth). Other notable appearances on the show are said to include Ron Funches (Trolls), Fortune Feimster (Good Fortune, Kenan), Cole Escola (At Home with Amy Sedaris), Aparna Nancherla (The Great North), John Hodgman (Up Here), Yvette Nicole Brown (Disenchanted, Act Your Age), and Stephen Tobolowsky (The Goldbergs), via Animation Magazine.
