Apple TV+ has unveiled the trailer for its upcoming eight-episode crime drama, Dope Thief, set to premiere worldwide on March 14, 2025. Adapted from Dennis Tafoya’s (The Wolves of Fairmount Park, The Poor Boy’s Game: A Novel) novel of the same name, the series follows two longtime friends from Philadelphia who pose as DEA agents to pull off a countryside heist. What begins as a small-time scheme quickly escalates into a deadly ordeal when they inadvertently uncover a major drug trafficking operation along the Eastern Seaboard.
Academy Award nominee Ridley Scott (The Martian, Blade Runner, Thelma & Louise) serves as an executive producer and directs the first episode, while fellow nominee Peter Craig (The Town, Top Gun: Maverick, The Batman, Bad Boys for Life) is the show’s creator and executive producer. The series stars Brian Tyree Henry (Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Bullet Train, Hotel Artemis), an Academy Award, Emmy and Tony nominee, who also takes on an executive producer role. The ensemble cast features Wagner Moura (Elite Squad, Narcos, Marighella), Marin Ireland (Hell or High Water, Glass Chin, Homeland), Kate Mulgrew (Star Trek: Voyager, Orange Is the New Black), Nesta Cooper (See, Travelers, Bliss), Amir Arison (The Blacklist, The Dropout, Ramy, American Horror Story), Dustin Nguyen (Warrior, Little Fish, Blade of the 47 Ronin) and Golden Globe winner Ving Rhames (Pulp Fiction, Bringing Out the Dead).
Apple TV+ has consistently garnered global acclaim and accolades. Since its launch in November of 2019, the streaming platform has earned over 550 awards and more than 2,500 nominations. Notable successes include the Emmy-winning Ted Lasso and the Oscar-winning film CODA.
Dope Thief will debut with two episodes on March 14, followed by new episodes every Friday until April 25. Produced by Apple Studios and Scott Free Productions, the series adds to Apple TV+’s growing slate of original content. Watch the official trailer for Dope Thief below.
