Apple TV+ comedy series Ted Lasso has been renewed for a second season, according to Variety. The renewal was announced just a few days after the series initially premiered on the streaming platform on August 14.
Ted Lasso stars Jason Sudeikis (Horrible Bosses, We’re The Millers) as Ted Lasso, a football coach who is hired to coach a professional soccer team in England despite having absolutely no experience in the sport. The series also stars Hannah Waddingham (Sex Education, Winter Ridge), Juno Temple (Horns, Maleficent), Brendan Hunt (Horrible Bosses 2, We’re The Millers), and Brett Goldstein (SuperBob, Adult Life Skills). The second season is set to consist of 10 episodes, just as the debut season did.
Sudeikis serves as executive producer, along with Bill Lawrence (Scrubs, Cougar Town) and Jeff Ingold (Scrubs, Parks and Recreation). Liza Katzer (Whiskey Cavalier) co-executive produces.
The streamer has recently earned 18 Emmy nominations for six of its original shows, including The Morning Show for best actress in a drama earned by star Jennifer Aniston (Friends, Just Go With It). The second season of Ted Lasso is set to premiere next year. The series’ season 1 trailer can be watched below.
