Apple TV+ Announces Season Two for Crime Thriller ‘Criminal Record’

Peter Capaldi in Apple TV+'s 'Criminal Record'

According to Deadline, Apple TV+’s program Criminal Record has been renewed for a second season with Peter Capaldi (Doctor Who, The Suicide Squad) and Cush Jumbo (The Good Wife, The Good Fight) reprising their leading roles. This British crime thriller will expand upon the two detectives as they again re-encounter each other for a murder investigation.

The show’s first season follows detective Sergeant June Lenker, portrayed by Jumbo, as she works on a historic London investigation based around a series of anonymous phone calls, leading her path to cross with Chief Inspector Daniel Hegerty, portrayed by Capaldi. The show presents a dichotomy between the two and their capabilities as detectives; Lenker is newer on the scene, while Hegerty is a well-connected veteran with a legacy to uphold

As for Criminal Record’s second season, a murder investigation opens after a far-right attack on a political rally where Lenker is operating as a senior officer on the scene. During the attack, a young man is killed, driving Lenker on a mission to take down the killer and get justice for the young man after she is consumed with guilt from the events. This is where she enlists the help of Hegerty to utilize his connections in police intelligence, however shadowing they may be. In order to obtain his help she may have to enter into a risky arrangement.
