Apple TV+ is joining Cineflix Rights and Israeli network Kan 11 to produce new thriller series Tehran, according to Variety. Apple TV+ is joining this production effort in order to take the series international, outside of Israel.
The eight-part series will surround Niv Sultan (Eilat) as Tamar Rabinyan, a deep Mossad agent undercover on a mission in Iran’s capital and her home town, Tehran, with dire worldly implications. The series also stars Shaun Toub (Iron Man), Navid Negahban (Aladdin), Shervin Alebani, Liraz Charh (Fair Game), and Menashe Noy (Big Bad Wolves).
The show was created and written Moshe Zonder (Fauda), along with Dana Eden and Maor Kohn. Omri Shenhar (Out of Sight) is apart of the writing efforts with Daniel Syrkin directing. Executive producers include Eden, Julien Leroux, Peter Emerson and Eldad Koblenz, Shula Spiegel and Alon Aranya.
Apple TV+ is currently working on multiple other international projects, including Suspicion starring Uma Thurman (Kill Bill: Volume 1), which is based on the Israeli series False Flag, according to Variety. The streamer has also released multiple originals, such as The Morning Show and Central Park.
Tehran is made by Donna Productions and Shula Spiegel Productions in association with Paper Plane Production, with the participation of Cineflix Rights and Cosmote TV, according to Deadline. There is no word on a release date for Tehran.
