The end of the match hasn’t been called yet for Ted Lasso. According to Deadline, Apple TV recently announced the premiere date for the third season of the popular comedy and released a teaser trailer for the new season. Season three of the soccer comedy show will premiere on March 15, with new episodes premiering every Wednesday.
Ted Lasso follows an American college football coach who decides to become the coach of AFC Richmond, a struggling British Premier League football team.
According to Deadline, season three will pick up after the shocking events of the season two finale. The newly-promoted AFC Richmond is facing ridicule, due to a prediction made by the media where it says they are in the last position of the Premier League.
The cast for the third season includes Jason Sudeikis (Hit-Monkey, South of Heaven) playing the protagonist Ted Lasso; Nick Mohammed (The Martian, Intelligence) starring as the new member of West Ham United, Nate; Anthony Head (Merlin, Buffy the Vampire Slayer) as Rupert Mannion the coach of the West Ham United football team; Brett Goldstein (Thor: Love and Thunder, Uncle) plays Roy Kent who will become Richmond’s assistant coach alongside Beard, played by Brendan Hunt (Bless This Mess, Cousins for Life); Hannah Waddingham (Sex Education, Krypton) will return as Rebecca, who is focused on defeating Rupert; and Juno Temple (The Offer, Palmer) will star as Keeley as she navigates being the boss of her new PR agency.
Other returning cast members include Jeremy Swift (The Art of Love, Housebound) as Leslie Higgins; Phil Dunster (The Devil’s Hour, The Trouble with Maggie Cole) as Jamie Tartt; Toheeb Jimoh (Anthony, The Feed) as Sam Obisanya; Cristo Fernández (Creatures, Who Speaks Love) as Dani Rojas; Kola Bokinni (Real, Top Boy) as Isaac McAdoo; Billy Harris (The Outlaws, Something’s Wrong) as Colin Hughes, and James Lance (Hounded, The Canterville Ghost) as Trent Crimm.
The show was developed by Sudeikis, Bill Lawrence (Shrinking, Cougar Town), Joe Kelly (How I Met Your Mother, Detroiters), and Hunt, and is based on a previously created format and characters from NBC Sports. Sudeikis also serves as an executive producer for the show alongside Lawrence via his Doozer Productions. Other executive producers for Ted Lasso include Hunt, Kelly, Bill Wrubel (Modern Family. Dream Team), Jane Becker (Future Man), Jamie Lee (Killing It, The Wedding Coach), and Doozer’s Jeff Ingold (Whiskey Cavalier, Rush Hour) and Liza Katzer (Shrinking, Head of the Class).
