The cast of The Inhumans is finally starting to take form. Days after Iwan Rheon was cast as the villain in the upcoming ABC show, the lead has been cast. ComicBookMovie.com reports that Anson Mount, known for his roles in Hell on Wheels, Dollhouse, Straw Dogs and as Britney Spears’ love interest in Crossroads, will be portraying Black Bolt in the upcoming series.
“Anson loves the challenge of playing a character who will only communicate silently. His enthusiasm mixed with his imposing almost regal persona made it easy to see why he is our Black Bolt,” Jeph Loeb, head of Marvel Television, said of Mount’s casting.
The Inhumans showrunner Scott Buck also repeated Loeb’s praise of Mount, saying “Black Bolt is a character whose deep complexity must be conveyed without uttering a single word, and I’m very excited to have Anson on board to bring him to life.”
Black Bolt is the leader of the Inhumans, who are superheroes who have been genetically modified to be powerful. When Black Bolt speaks, he has the power to destroy anything around him. Because of this, he doesn’t say a word at any given time, instead speaking through a spokesperson or using sign language.
The Inhumans premieres in theaters on Sept. 1, where the first two episodes of the show will be made available in IMAX, before moving to ABC on Sept. 26.
