Actress Robyn Griggs, who had recurring roles in soap operas Another World and One Life To Live, died at age 49. Griggs had previously shared her cervical cancer diagnosis and frequently shared video messages with her fans. On August 11th, Robyn’s father shared the news that she had entered hospice. Two days later, on August 13th at 12:15 PM, an individual close to Griggs posted the announcement of her passing on her Facebook page.
Griggs starred as Stephanie Hobart on One Life To Live, a character featured in the series from 1991-1992. In Another World, she played Maggie Cory; a role played by four other actresses, including Lisa Brenner (Life in Pieces), Jodi O’Keefe (The Vampire Diaries), and Caitlyn Roark and Nicole Schrink. Roark and Schrink played the role of Maggie as small children and did not continue acting professionally on television.
Griggs’s credits include Amy Lynn Best’s Severe Injuries, Steve Session’s Dead Clowns, and Patrick Desmond’s The Absence of Light. Her additional credits include Rob Avery’s Slasher’s Gone Wild!, Kim Sønderholm’s Craig, Jason Paul Collum’s October Moon 2: November Son, and Eddie Lengyel’s Hellweek. Griggs also starred in a 2005 short film titled 2020: An American Nightmare, about a global virus that infected the United States in 2020.
Griggs was born on April 30th, 1973, in the small town of Tunkhannock, Pennsylvania. In 2013, she married partner Mark Griggs, and the two cared for a dog named Ralphie, of whom Griggs frequently posted videos and photos. In recent years, she went by the name Robyn Griggs Wiley.
In a 2020 article with the Digital Journal, Griggs shared a message to anyone battling cancer. She commented, “Stay positive. Remember everyone is battling something, this does not define you but makes you appreciate so much more. Remember you have people to help with the emotional aspect. Cry, let it out. Do not believe what statistics you read, every person with cancer has a different situation. Optimism will help you more than you know.”
