Deadline has reported that Hulu has added Annie Murphy (Schitt’s Creek, Russian Doll) and Christine Baranski (The Gilded Age, The Good Fight) to the cast of Nine Perfect Strangers for season two. The second season has also added Lucas Englander (Transatlantic, Parlement) and will feature singer King Princess in her first acting role.
Nine Perfect Strangers is based on the novel of the same name by Liane Moriarty (Big Little Lies, Apples Never Fall). David E. Kelley (Ally McBeal, The Practice) produced season one of the series and served as showrunner with John Henry Butterworth (Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, Ford v Ferrari). The two wrote the season with Samantha Strauss (The End, Dance Academy).
According to Deadline, additional new cast members that will be joining the series for season two include Maisie Richardson-Sellers (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Kissing Booth), Aras Aydin (Two Types of People, Runaway), Dolly de Leon (A Very Good Gift, Triangle of Sadness) and Murray Bartlett (Welcome to Chippendales, Looking). The eight actors will play a new group of strangers. Baranski will play Victoria, Murphy will play Imogen, Englander will play Martin, King Princess will play Tina, Richardson-Sellers will play Wolfie, Aydin will play Patteo, de Leon will play Agnes, and Bartlett will play Brian.
Nine Perfect Strangers stars Samara Weaving (The Babysitter, Ready or Not) as Jessica, Bobby Cannavale (The Watcher, Boardwalk Empire) as Tony, and Nicole Kidman (Big Little Lies, Special Ops: Lioness) as Masha Dmitrichenko.
The series follows Kidman’s Dmitrichenko as the leader of a posh wellness resort that welcomes stressed city dwellers to relax and gain enlightenment to lead better lives. The second season will take place in the Swiss Alps.
Season one of the series included Grace Van Patten (Tell Me Lies, Under the Silver Lake) as Zoe, Luke Evans (Dracula Untold, The Alienist) as Lars, Melissa McCarthy (Gilmore Girls, Bridesmaids) as Francis, Asher Keddie (Offspring, Stateless) as Heather, Michael Shannon (Bullet Train, Man of Steel) as Napoleon, Manny Jacinto (The Good Place, Brand New Cherry Flavor) as Yao, Joe Terakes (Talk to Me, Wentworth) as Glory, Regina Hall (Girls Trip, Scary Movie) as Carmel, Tiffany Boone (The Chi, Little Fires Everywhere) as Delilah, Melvin Gregg (Snowfall, Freakish) as Ben Chandler, Hal Cumpston (The Walking Dead World Beyond, The Artful Dodger) as Zach Marconi, and Isabelle Cornish (Dance Academy, Puberty Blues) as Lulu.
The first season of Nine Perfect Strangers debuted on Hulu on August 18, 2021.
