The winner of season eight of American Idol, Kris Allen, had a third surgery on his wrist this past Friday after suffering injuries from a car accident.
Allen and his wife, Katy, were driving on January 1 when they got into a car accident in which he endured a broken wrist. They both have been active on Twitter to ensure fans that he will be just fine, according to the Hollywood Reporter. After the surgery, he tweeted, “Update: doin alright. :)”, and his wife posted “Surgery went great! He is in recovery now.”
The initial surgery on Allen’s wrist did not heal correctly, therefore requiring two additional surgeries. In spite of the accident he did not cancel any appearances scheduled for his “Out Alive” tour. Allen even played his guitar during several concerts, as noted by the Hollywood Reporter.
Being a musician who plays both the guitar and piano, Allen’s wrist injury could have caused some long term damage. However, he confirmed in May on his personal website, “I will be fine. After everything is healed, I will be able to play guitar. I will be able to play piano. I will be able to throw a baseball with my kid. I will be able to do the things that I love to do. Just not a proper push-up,” the Hollywood Reporter quoted.
Kris and Katy are expecting their son this July.
