As the Monday scaries settle in, many are still recovering from the past weekend, as the first trailer for American Horror Story: Double Feature, was released. The Ryan Murphy (Glee, Hollywood) FX anthology horror series is back for a tenth season, premiering its trailer just two weeks before its premiere on August 25, via Indiewire.
There has been much speculation as to what the monumental season ten of American Horror Story will be about. As Murphy has left trail of breadcrumbs in the lead up to the season’s premiere, the many die hard fans were finally put out of their misery as the first full-length trailer arrived over the weekend, and it delivers. Subtitled Double Feature, the upcoming season will be split into Part one and a Part two, with the first story taking place on land, and the other in the water.
Starring Finn Wittrock (Ratched) as a novelist searching for his next great story, the trailer kicks off as he moves with his pregnant wife, portrayed by Lily Rabe (Tell Me Your Secrets), and their daughter, played by Ryan Keira Armstrong (The Tomorrow War), to Provincetown, Massachusetts, a remote town located on the beach. Once there, things start to move towards The Shining horror movie territory, as it appears Wittrock begins to unravel in the isolated town while attempting to get over his writer’s block. That alone would suffice in telling a horror story, but the buck doesn’t stop there.
Enter Evan Peters (Mare of Easttown) and Frances Conroy (Six Feet Under), dressed to the nines in very punk-rock themed clothing, who circle in on the couple with seemingly malicious intent. Peters reveals to Wittrock’s character that he himself is a writer, and he can help him with his writer’s block. What follows is chaos as various snapshots reveal body parts washed up upon the shore, guns and knives aimed at the ready, and various monsters breaking into the couple’s new home.
Sarah Paulson (The People Vs. O.J Simpson: American Crime Story) makes an appearance in the trailer, terrified and haggard, as she walks down the beach with what appears to be blood covering her face. Also returning to the series are American Horror Story veterans Angelica Ross (Pose) and Billie Lourd (Scream Queens), who’s featured in the trailer as dentist holding up an ominous-looking drill before inserting it into Wittrock’s mouth. Also returning is Leslie Grossman (What I Like About You), alongside MacCaulay Culkin (Home Alone), who is making his American Horror Story debut. Denis O’Hare (True Blood), who’s been apart of the series since season one, also makes a quick cameo in the trailer.
American Horror Story: Double Feature will premiere on FX, Wednesday, August 25, and will continue to air episodes weekly through Halloween. All episodes will then be available to watch on Hulu. Watch the trailer below:
