Fans of the Starz sleeper hit American Gods can thank Odin! Shooting on season two has finally begun. Author Neil Gaiman, who serves as executive producer, excitedly notes that this season is ready to rock.
In a behind the scenes (#BTS) video Tweeted by Starz, show headliners Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, Yetide Badaki, Orlando Jones and others promote the “God Squad” is gearing up. The rock reference comes up their shooting location of House on the Rock Resort in Wisconsin. This tourist resort plays background to the continuing antics of Mr. Wednesday (McShane) and Shadow Moon (Whittle).

Gaiman is overseeing season two and appears as equally excited as his stars. “It’s amazing to see everyone back, and to be entering the next stage of the story with the best bunch of actors around, along with some inspired filmmakers.”
With the numerous show runner changes that have taken place since season one ended, it will be interesting to see the path the show takes. Gillian Anderson, who portrayed the Goddess Media has already announced she will not be returning. Goddess Easter (Kristen Chenoweth) has not yet disclosed if she will be raising up any flowers in season 2. Speculation is since her long-time collaborator Bryan Fuller is not returning, she may not either. Fuller and Michael Green ran Gods during season one but dropped out even after a second season was confirmed shortly after it ended in May 2017.
American Gods is based on the 2001 novel by Gaiman of the same name. It debuted on Starz in 2017 and hopefully even with several starts and stops, the 8-episodes of season two should air in 2019.
