AMC’s Streaming Platform Sundance Now Adds David Tennant’s ‘Des’ to its Catalog

AMC’s Sundance Now has announced that they will be premiering the David Tennant (Doctor Who, Hamlet, Broadchurch) Des television mini-series, according to Deadline. Des is a mini-series created by Luke Neal (Jupiter Ascending) and Kelly Jones (EastEnders) and is directed by Lewis Arnold (Humans, Broadchurch) for its three episodes. The three-part miniseries is produced by the production company ITV Studios, a production studio responsible for series such as Amazon’s Hanna, TNT’s Snowpiercer, and NBC’s Aquarius. The series will be added to the catalog of AMC’s streaming platform Sundance Now, yet there is no announced release date.

Des is based on a novel Killing For Company by Brian Masters as it follows the Scottish serial killer Dennis Nilsen who was arrested in 1983 due to his connection to the unearthing of human remains. Tennant will be portraying the serial killer Nilsen who was convicted of six counts of murder and allegedly responsible for twelve to fifteen victims during his spree in London. Adding to the miniseries cast is Daniel Mays (The Bank Job, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story) who is to portray Peter Jay, Alex Bhat (Hanna, War & Peace) as DS Jones, and Jason Watkins (The Crown) as Brian Masters. Extensive cast members include the likes of Jay Simpson (Chernobyl, King Gary), Gerard Horan (The Bank Job, Beauty and the Beast), and Ron Cook (Hot Fuzz, Chocolat). Des will cover the moment of arrest to the trial of Nilsen during its three-part run.

AMC’s streaming option Sundance Now starts subscriptions at $4.99 per month for its annual plan while also offering a $6.99 per month subscription for its monthly subscription. Des will be added to the collection of original series such as The Split and Riviera in addition to true crime documentary series such as Killing for Love or Jonestown: Terror in the Jungle. Currently, there is no premiere date nor trailer for the upcoming miniseries.
